TAP – TEST ACCESS POINT

The Industrial Ethernet TAP seamlessly duplicate full-duplex 10/100 Mbps traffic at wire speed. It provides monitoring devices with an accurate copy of the traffic with no impact on the network. It monitors all 7 OSI layers, and mirror packets of all sizes and types, low-level errors, and VLAN traffic.

The device makes even this faulty data available for analysis using standard diagnostic tools such as Wireshark

The Industrial Fast Ethernet Copper TAP is non-intrusive, has no IP address and isolate monitoring devices from the network to ensure complete stealth and security. The Industrial Fast Ethernet TAP network link is fully passive, ensuring a permanent network link at all times with zero failover time or link restoration delay.

TAP Helmholz facilitates non-intrusive monitoring.

  • Non-intrusive in-line monitoring
  • Permanent network link guaranteed
  • Zero failover time or link restoration delay
  • Monitoring of all 7 OSI layers
  • No packet loss, no point of failure
  • Fully 802.3af & VoIP compliant
  • Low power consumption
  • Tested with major analysis & monitoring systems

TAP Helmholz vs SPAN

  • TAP Helmholz is impervious to hacking. Invisible, isolates monitoring devices from the network, no IP/MAC address.
  • TAP Helmholz is passive and non-intrusive. Doesn’t alter the data. The SPAN is non-passive, alters packets’ timing, adds delay.
  • The SPAN doesn’t copy all traffic. TAP Helmholz copies all traffic, al packets of anysize and type.
  • The SPAN cannot handle full-duplex traffic drops packets if overloaded, may also interfere with main switch operation. TAP Helmholz copies full-duplex traffic at wirespeed.
